Project Designer - Level III: Corporate Interiors

The Role:

Kahn Architecture is a mid-sized, interiors-focused architecture firm and in search of a Project Designer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience specializing in commercial office design.

The Project Designer candidate will work directly with the design team and Design Partner on the firm’s corporate accounts. Successful candidates must have a strong level of experience in space planning and design development skills including the ability to create diversified design concepts and managing design team to coordinate furniture, finishes, and materials selection for a diverse selection of corporate clients.

This role functions as a senior member of the team and is responsible for and engaged in all design aspects of projects – programming, planning, and coordination with architectural team – to deliver the highest quality of work meeting our client’s expectations. It is important that candidates maintain excellent client and vendor relationships, have clear communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple design projects efficiently.

Our firm is seeking someone who:

  • Participates in or leads programming and pre-planning design analysis.

  • Possesses a strong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture systems, and specifications.

  • Is capable and has a creative approach to the use of colors and materials with outstanding graphic presentation skills.

  • Understands budgets, schedules, and fees for a project.

  • Has the proven ability to self-manage under pressure while overseeing and mentoring junior designers in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of design experience with at least 6 years in corporate interiors for NYC-based projects.

  • Project experience in all phases of design.

  • A professional degree in architecture or interior design.

  • Fluent in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (Other design-related programs are a plus)

  • Highly organized with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • New York/Tri-State area resident preferred.

  • Be a U.S. citizen, or already possess a work visa for working in the U.S.
